Dangerous and prohibited items
As much as we'd love to be able to get rid of anything and everything for you, there are some items that are legally not allowed to be thrown out in our roll off dumpsters. You can also give us a call and ask, and we'll let you know. This is not an exhaustive or complete list, but covers the most common problem items.
Below are some guidelines for what NOT to put in our dumpster rentals:
-Paint and laquers
-Biohazard/medical waste (for example, blood-stained materials)
-Ink (think printer ink) and resin
-Large appliances such as AC units, refrigerators, and hot water tanks--unless they are drained of their hazardous liquids (for example, the freon in the fridge or AC unit. This usually has to be done by a professional, so it is often easier to pay someone to haul it away.)
-Other chemical waste such as household cleaners, transmission fluid, and engine fluid
-Fuels and propane tanks
-Household garbage--aka, food waste. This one surprises many people. Unfortunately, this should be disposed of via normal methods in your trash can. It attracts vermin in the dumpsters!
There are usually methods in place to properly dispose of many of these materials--for example, some local transfer stations have places to recycle or dispose of motor oil and car batteries.
Once again, please call if you have any doubts, we'd be happy to answer your questions!
